Job Title: Accountancy & Business Change Manager
Location: South East London
Rate: £600 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: 6-month ongoing
Working Pattern: Hybrid

The Role We are seeking an experienced Accountancy & Business Change Manager to join a large public sector organisation in South East London on a 6-month ongoing contract.
This role sits within the Accountancy Business Partnership Service and is one of 13 operational managers supporting the Heads of Accounting and Business Change in the strategic delivery of finance and transformation functions across the Council.
You will play a key role in ensuring the accountancy function is fully integrated across directorates, driving business change, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the Council’s Section 151 statutory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a strategic finance business partner within a defined service area
  • Drive business change and operational efficiencies within statutory and legal frameworks
  • Ensure finance is fully embedded within directorates and Council-wide decision-making
  • Promote and champion service values and the Accountancy Business Plan
  • Support delivery of Section 151 responsibilities and statutory obligations
  • Provide expert financial advice, briefings, and guidance to Members and Chief Officers
  • Manage and resolve complex financial and business change issues
  • Represent the Council with external organisations and key stakeholders
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development

About You
  • Significant experience in senior finance roles within a public sector environment
  • Strong knowledge of local authority finance and statutory requirements
  • Proven experience driving business change and service improvement
  • Confident advising senior leaders and elected members
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to manage complexity and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
