Senior Appeals Officer – SEND Service
Location: Nottinghamshire
Working Pattern: Fully remote
Hours: 37 hours per week (5 days)
Contract Length: 3 months initially, with potential extension up to 6 months
Rate: £400–£500 per day (dependent on experience)

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Appeals Officer to support a Local Authority SEND service. The postholder will manage complex appeal work and represent the Local Authority at mediation and SEND Tribunal (SENDIST) hearings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage SEND appeals and senior-level casework
  • Represent the Local Authority at mediation and SEND Tribunal hearings
  • Prepare cases thoroughly, including evidence gathering and documentation
  • Provide expert input on complex SEND matters
  • Work autonomously while contributing to wider SEND service objectives
Essential Experience
  • Significant experience working within a SEND team
  • Proven experience of mediation and SEND Tribunal (SENDIST) hearings
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and appeals processes
  • Experience handling complex and high-level SEND casework
