💰 £13.63 per hour
🕖 07:00–15:00 Monday–Thursday, 07:00–14:30 Friday (Overtime required)

 

About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable and motivated LGV Waste Collection Driver to join their team in the Isle of Skye. You’ll play a key role in keeping the communities safe, clean, and environmentally responsible by operating the refuse and recycling vehicles on designated routes, managing waste disposal, and ensuring high standards of service to residents.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Drive Refuse/Recycling Vehicles on scheduled routes.
• Safely transport and deposit waste at approved facilities.
• Lead and guide crew members working from your vehicle.
• Collect and safely dispose of fly tipping, bulky items, and animal carcasses.
• Assist with loading refuse/recycling vehicles when required.
• Deliver and uplift waste, litter, and recycling bins.
• Engage positively with the public as a client-facing representative of Highland Council.
• Comply with DVSA regulations, Scottish laws, and council policies.
• Maintain responsibility for vehicle safety, passenger safety, and workplace Health & Safety.
• Carry out any other duties directed by your Foreperson.

 

Essential Attributes

• Valid LGV licence (preferably clean).
• Current CPC and Tacho Card (or ability to upgrade quickly).
• Solid understanding of LGV legal responsibilities.
• Good standard of general education.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to use initiative.
• Basic vehicle maintenance skills, within council and legal guidelines.
• Ability to clearly report vehicle issues to workshops/Forepersons.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Awareness and commitment to Health & Safety in hazardous environments.
