From recessions, office relocations, graduate academies, Brexit to being acquired by an £800 million turnover recruitment organisation, it has been a rollercoaster ride as Procurement People have evolved from an internal recruitment arm of an International Procurement Consultancy to becoming the The No.1 Procurement Network in the UK.
Personally, having joined Procurement People as one of its very first Employees over 8 years ago and now being the longest serving member in the business, working for Procurement People has been very much more than a job for me and something I have become very passionate about. I have seen the business develop from a small specialist recruiter to a market leader offering tailored search services for Mid-Senior level appointments across the UK and international markets.
As a team we have developed and grown together and are all very much determined to continue growing the business and offering a first class service to our candidates and clients alike. We have a passion and competitive nature to be the best we can be – always helped by incentives such as holiday vouchers, meals out at Michelin star restaurants and extra days annual leave to name a few, which make this such a great and rewarding environment to work within.
Recently when discussing plans for our 10 year birthday celebrations I asked the team for some thoughts of their time working for Procurement People. Unfortunately the vast majority of what I received back was largely alcohol infused nights out after work, not necessarily suitable for this article!
However, one common recurrence across the team was Procurement People joining the Executive Network Group in 2016.
Olivia Larcombe, our Public Sector Procurement specialist said that she was particularly happy to have Joined ENG as it felt like we had become a bigger family. As with most recruiters, Olivia also described her first placement as being one of her best memories at Procurement People. However, this was more so because she became friends with the person she placed, something that Olivia takes great pride in given the level of service provided being life changing to that particular candidate!
Alex Chinea, who heads up our London office joined Procurement People just under 2 years ago and described it as a great place to work. “The people are truly the heart of the organisation and drivers of the business. It’s built up of entrepreneurs who have the resources and capabilities of Executive Network Group at our disposal. You truly have the ownership to build your own career and this is supported by the team and management – something that is very important to me with my ambitious nature.”
Chris Bradley, Procurement People’s 2 nd longest serving Consultant, recalled how it felt right from the very first interview “I knew it was somewhere I would enjoy working. Everyone is supportive, we actually work as a team I genuinely enjoy spending time with my colleagues! Becoming part of ENG has really changed the attitude of the company. It is much more driven and competitive. The incentives I have won have been great, including skiing trips to the Alps and monthly lunch clubs to some of the best restaurants in Birmingham. The great thing is we have thrived since joining ENG, demonstrating that we are one of the top performing brands within the company and winning the top performer of Q1 over the last three months has been a personal highlight for myself!”
Philip While, joined Procurement People as Business Leader in August 2016 as part of Procurement People’s transition into the Executive Network Group and certainly hasn’t looked back since! Phil said “the decision to join was simple, I saw a business with a well respected brand, a dedicated team and huge potential to shape the recruitment market as a true leader in this specialist field. One of our 5 core values is Enjoyment and we certainly embrace this on a day to day basis encouraging each other to perform at our very best which creates a fantastic environment to thrive in. It is great to work for a business which is constantly evolving and continuing to break company records on a regular basis. A testament to how hard the team works for their clients and candidates, ensuring we are providing the right solutions”.
The recruitment industry in itself is ever evolving and we here at Procurement People we embrace and adapt to these changes early to stay ahead of the curve and remain The No.1 Procurement Network. Procurement People have gone through many changes over the years to further improve our service offering - none more so than over the last 12 months. I expect there to be many more changes in the years ahead with further expansion plans for our Birmingham and London offices and an increased international presence. Congratulations to all at Procurement People on this monumental achievement and I personally look forward to the exciting times ahead!
