My first few weeks with Procurement People

At the age of eighteen Wayne Rooney signed for Man United, he left his boyhood club Everton to sign for the then dominant Man United and made his debut in the Champions League against Fenerbahce scoring a hatrick – the perfect start for the now record breaking goal scorer of one of the largest football clubs in the world.

Back in 2004 Wayne decided to join Man United because they are one of the largest clubs in the world and this would catapult his career to become the England captain and someone who is well respected amongst his peers. (It’s got absolutely nothing to do with the wages)

I bet you’re wondering why I’m likening Wayne Rooney’s career to my first few weeks at Procurement People?

Like Wayne Rooney joining Man United, I’ve joined one of the largest recruitment groups in the UK in Pertemps, I too have these same goals to become highly respected amongst my peers and I would like to progress in my career in the future.

Joining Procurement People was an easy decision for me, I already knew most of the team and I’m in tune with the company’s philosophy of operating an ‘inch wide, mile deep’ approach to recruitment.

Procurement People is part of the Executive Network Group which consist of six super brands - Procurement People, The HSE Network, Network HR, The Construction Network, The Equipment Network and The FM Network.

The company’s core values are Enjoyment, Inspiration, Excellence, Professional Intelligence, and Togetherness.

The core values of the group are not just words in a picture framed on the wall, the company take their values seriously and in such a short space of time each of these values has become apparent to me.

In my first week I was invited out for lunch with the top performers which every new starter is entitled to attend for the first time. We have finished early on a Friday nearly every week since I’ve joined the company and the first drink has always been on the company.

The company has awards for grafter of the week which is nominated by the whole team here at Executive Network Group. (I’ve received a vote already)

There are employee of the month, biggest monthly biller and most inspirational awards at the end of every month.

Because everyone here operates the ‘inch wide, mile deep’ philosophy I’m learning so much from my colleagues about my industry sector and I’m talking to people within my industry every day.

With this approach to recruitment I’m confident I will be up to speed with my sector very quickly.

Just shy of my six week with the company, I have made my first placement and everyone here has been really complimentary of my work so far. #togetherness!  #Wayne Rooney

If you are a Procurement Professional working within the construction industry, I would love to talk to you.
