Global Commodity Manager – Electronics

Circa £45k plus benefits

We are very please to offer a new opportunity with this global manufacturing business. We are recruiting on a permanent basis for a Commodity Manager to focus on supporting the global procurement function with the strategy surrounding electronics. The Global Commodity Manager will be responsible for developing, maintaining, communicating and executing a robust commodity based supply chain strategy Globally, including where appropriate, EMS suppliers through:

• contributing to the profitability of the company through material cost reduction and extended credit terms, whilst driving key procurement strategies such as migrating to a preferred supplier list and maximising contract coverage including cost reduction and performance criteria and penalties

• Ensuring Corporate /EMS /Distribution /Manufacturer negotiation and strategy responsibilities are clearly defined and understood

• calculating the total cost of acquisition and to develop Global sourcing strategies together with the SC/logistics team

• supporting the New Product Sourcing Managers with new supplier selections to ensure that future products also meet the needs of the business taking into account technology developments and life cycle risk reviews


• Commodity Management

– Develop, maintain, communicate and execute a robust and global commodity strategy.

– Close co-operation with the global commodity teams

• Reporting

– Provide data required by Senior Management e.g. Monthly PV forecast for EO and weekly progress reports

– Maintain CRI Tracker requirements to facilitate Group reporting

– Facilitate MK/Zycus data integrity

• Cost Reduction

– Develop, maintain and execute a robust cost reduction plan for EU, CN and NA both in direct/distribution supply and through EMS suppliers

– Rolling review of future containment opportunities

– Increase reverse auction (e Sourcing) penetration to 20% of annual spend

 Co-ordinate and implement reverse auctions

 Ensure Performance Metric and Contract Terms are included in bid terms

• New Products

– Support NPSM with new supplier selection

– Ensure clear alignment and communication of Commodity Strategy with NPSM

– Facilitate effective communication between R&D, Procurement and Purchasing

• Risk Management

– Identify and minimise any risks in the supply chain through defined documented risk mitigation plans

– Inform Senior Management of any risks being taken

– Documented contract coverage targets



• Relevant Engineering or Business degree





• Minimum of 5 years relevant Strategic Procurement experience in a similar industrial product and commodity area


• Global outlook and scope of experiences
